The Hills are alive....

Culliford Tree - The Singing BarrowThe Dorset landscape would not be complete without is numerous ancient earthworks and barrows. In the past, these burial mounds were believed to be inhabited by fairies.

The Culliford Tree barrow on Came Down and the Bincombe Bumps on Bincombe Hill are known locally as 'Music Barrows,' for it was said if you put your ear close to the ground at midday one can hear the plaintive tones of faerie music, emitting out of the Bronze Age burial mounds.
